Honor
''For some, their dignity is their humanity. For others, their dignity is their identity manifestation. ''One character said this in Amharic film. She was severely criticized for her clothing in the film, that is why she said that. By the way, clothing is a reflection of a person's identity, but not their identity. It does not make them higher or lower to be human. There is nothing to prevent a person from being human, even if mentally ill person who wears dirty clothes.
Except perhaps adding the adjective crazy before the noun "person." And the adjective has no power to erase the true identity or body of a person. An adjective either degrades or magnify. It cannot change a person into an animal or a beast. A person who is clean and dressed in dirty clothes are the same. Both are human being.
The thing that makes a person more depraved is not a dirty clothes rather his dirty thoughts. It is better for a person to cleanse his dirty nature with clean thoughts than to try to hide his dirty nature with clean clothes. It is easy to wash and clean the body. But it is very difficult to wash and clean the thoughts. Dirty clothes are better than dirty thoughts. Because dirty clothes can be easily clean by washing, if impossible, they will be thrown away.
But dirty thoughts are very difficult to wash and clean and throw them away. Therefore, it is better for a person to be respected by his thoughts than by his clothes. A persons with a good Clothes are respected from far. When they are approached, they can be despised by their thoughts. The glory of a person who is rich in clothes and rich in wealth is temporary. Lasting honor lies in a beautiful personality built on good thinking. It is not clothes but the heart that matters.
To put clean clothes on a dirty heart is like putting new wine in old wineskins. The two are incompatible. Either the wine will spoil or the wineskins will burst. Therefore, it is better to put new wine in new wineskins. To put clean clothes on a person who has honored the body is the lasting honor of a human being. True honor comes from within, not from without.
Trying to be honored by what is seen is foolish. What is unseen is more valuable than what is seen. That is why, more than visible clothes, the unseen heart is honored. A person should live not to be seen but to show something valuable. To be seen, dressing is enough. But to show something valuable, besides dressing, it is necessary to work or live. The true identity of a human being is not in dressing but in living or working.
A person who is seen with beautiful clothes may be a creature who is complaining inside. Because he is beautiful on the outside, he does not rise above the body. Although he is a traitor, he does not lower his body, but instead attaches another label to his identity, a false identity.
Dressing well does not mean that it is wrong or unnecessary. Dressing well is about taking care of yourself and maintaining your dignity. But a person should take care of themselves, not just for the sake of being seen by others. They should also do so for their own health.
A person should not lose his health and comfort in order to be seen. When the economy is in decline, he should not work hard to be seen. Well dressing is not more important than health. Arrogance is not more important than peace of mind. The profit made by losing the main thing is worthless. But the profit made by holding the main thing is useful. Without existence, there is no harmony. It is possible to live with or without luxury.
It is necessary to live in order to overact. But it is not obligatory to overact in order to live. A person is said to be living because of not his luxurious life, instead he is able to maintain his health and peace of mind. It is not right to give up the essential for the sake of the luxury, but it is right to lose luxury for the sake of the essential. Of course, clothing is necessary. But the basic purpose of clothing is to cover the body, but not to show the body.
Many have gone to the extent of losing their health in order to show the body. It is necessary to wear what is comfortable. But wearing what is uncomfortable is a disease. It is appropriate to wear what we can. Wearing what we cannot afford is a luxury. Clothes that make us beautiful are good for our health. But wearing clothes that do not make us beautiful is harmful to our health. When clothes cover the body, they are honor and beauty. But wearing clothes that are too extravagant for the sake of honor diminishes honor.
Clothing that makes people equal is both a rule and an honor. Student uniforms, work clothes, military and police uniforms are clothes that are dignified and worthy of respect. Wearing these clothes is a privilege.
But if you want to be honored by clothes, you have no respect for these common clothes. Because you seek to be the one who is different from others. What makes you unique is not what makes you different from others. Of course, people are different from people. On the other hand, what makes you unique from the majority is a lot. It is impossible to be unique in what everyone can have. But working on something that make difference lead you to be a unique and honorable.
What distinguishes a person from another is his work, but not his clothes. The whites say, " First impression is last impression. " One measure of first impression is clothing. Here, clothing shows the respect we have for work. Dressing to honor work is honorable. But dressing to distinguish oneself from everyone else is not honorable.
"Honor is found in the heart, not in clothes."
