Common purpose
A common purpose is essential for unity. But an individual, if he does not have his own purpose, cannot have a common purpose. A person without a purpose, does not understand the existence of a purpose. He cannot sense that man was created for a purpose. He does not see that man was created not only to eat, but also to feed.
He does not feel that he can enjoy not only by wearing, but also by dressing other. A person who lives without a purpose does not understand the meaning of being, but of having. If he has what he eats, drinks, and wears, it is enough. Being able to present to the sound of people those who seek eating, drinking, dressing are worthless to him. He does not know how important his existence is to others.
He does not understand that in the existence of others, his breath is there. He cannot live life by plan, but live by chance. Of course, no one can live exactly according to plan. But living without a plan is a great folly. It would be very sad if a person were to die by chance, without living by plan. If he were to die by chance, living by plan, it would not be difficult to accept it as a natural process. Because no one dies by plan. Unless, perhaps, due to life's pressures or for some other reason, a person is thinking about killing himself. Even then, it is not a deliberate act, but an act of emotion.
A person intentionally thinks and saves himself, but does not kill himself. Thinking means choosing the best that will benefit. Not thinking means deciding or choosing the worst that will harm.
Living without a purpose is the result of not thinking. What makes a person human is the ability to think. What saves one from living by instinct is thinking. It is through thinking that one can see the unseen, hear unable to be heard, believe and confirm that there is a spiritual world behind the material world.
Animals need a comfortable environment to live in. Because they do not have the ability to make nature comfortable. When the forest becomes a wilderness, they abandon it and flee. Otherwise, they all become the food of death one by one. This happens because they cannot think. But man is not like that, because he can think, he can create a comfortable environment even if nature is not comfortable. He can make a wilderness a beautiful place to live. But the one who is capable of doing this is a person with a purpose. But a person without purpose, since he cannot think without a purpose, he wants a comfortable environment like the animals. Otherwise, death embraces him.
A purpose is needed to think better. If a person does not have a purpose, he becomes an instinctive person. A person with an instinct cannot live rationally but live emotionally. And it is absolutely impossible to think better by emotion.
Purpose is direction. It is the beginning and the end of life. A person without a purpose is directionless. He has no beginning or end. His life goes on, but he has no direction. The day goes by, the night comes, but for him, the evening and the morning do not change. Because he does not want to change. Change is his enemy. He lives by saying that it is better to cling to the devil I know than to the angel I do not know.
Bytheway, Satan does not become good because we know him. He does not turn away from his evil even if we do not know him. The evil person is the same. He does not become gentle because we are close to him. He does not stop doing his tricks because we are far away. The evil we have become accustomed to, could not be good because we love it. But if we hate it, even if the thing does not change, we will change.
Loving evil makes us prisoners of it. But our hatred sets us free. But it costs a price to be free. There is no freedom that comes without a price. A person without a purpose finds it very difficult to give up evil or bad things. Similarly, he is very anxious to accept good things. The common goal requires change. A person who cannot change is an obstacle to the common goal. A person without a purpose, because he is not ready to accept change, is an obstacle to the common goal.
But a person with a purpose does not hate an angel, whether he knows it or not.
He always sees a good things. An angel is an angel, he believes that his goodness will not change because we are afraid of him. He has a view that unknown angel is better than his relative Satan. He is always eager to learn something new. He is ready to change.
Working and moving forward together is his joy. But he cooperates with those who have a common good intention, but never with those who have evil intentions. He has association with those who say let's work together, but not with those who say let's cheat together. He does not say that if I die, it will not grow, but say that I live to grow it. He does not destroy tomorrow for today. He lives today for tomorrow.
He sees not his own loss, but the gain of his children. Since the children's satiety is seen in his imagination, his own hunger does not worry him much. A person with a purpose, since tomorrow is seen in his today's life, is a suitable creature for a common purpose.
People who seek comfort, even if they have a purpose, are not very comfortable for a common purpose. They are afraid of losing their spare car to give away. Rather than giving away their clothes, they would rather turn their closet into a clothing museum. They are afraid to go barefoot unless a doctor orders them to. They are also afraid of those who go barefoot. They cannot live for other but live only for themselves.
They prefer working alone rather than working together. They are sick of respecting other. They are happy when they are listened to. They feel inferior when they are listening other. They think that they were created to be respected, but not to respect. They shrink other for their own benefit. They tremble other for their honor. The best and the most beautiful are theirs, the worst and the most dirty are others.
Their goal is not to increase love, but to increase money, material things, and jewelry. They do not want to expand themselves. By announcing what they know, by showing what they can, they make no effort to create others who are like them. In short, they live for convenience, not for a common purpose.
A common goal requires a balanced individual goal. In Papio's book, as the story goes, it is necessary to shape goals. When Papio got out of prison, his goal was to make money.
But this goal made him illegal, he realized this gradually through many ups and downs. Then he adjusted his goal. He convinced himself that he should first get a job, not money. If we prioritize money over work, we are more likely to be unruly or illegal. But if we prioritize work over money, we will have order and be legal. Just like Papio did, if we prioritize money over work, our mind will not think about working but stealing. But if we prioritize work over money, our mind will think about working but not stealing.
''A well-defined personal goal can create a common goal.''
